2 Babies at 1-GO

Remember our little creepy crawlers, caterpillars? They have finally turned into butterflies after 10 days of neck-long waiting. I think the duration is considerably short already as was told to wait 14 days though. :)

Our 1st Tawny Coster from the small skinny breed of caterpillars. The other one inside didn't make it to adulthood though Chrysalis was formed. Hmm....one casualty in the outcome.

The 2nd butterfly is a Leopard Lacewing. I love the colors. It has the same 'birthday' as the Tawny Coster but was few hours different cos when we set the Tawny Coster free, this fella was still stuck to the Chrysalis. However, by the time Wenz came back from school, the fella was free from the Chrysalis and active inside the container.

We set it free right away. Same thing goes for the 2nd caterpillars inside. It didn't make it till the end as the Chrysalis has long broken off. The overall learning experience is good. For more info on caterpillars and butterflies, you can go here.

Happy Mooncake Day!!!

My friend was telling me how yummy the durian mooncake from GoodwoodPark Hotel was during over msn chat at work and how difficult to get it as it was practically sold out if u dun order it over the counter. I went Wow...wow..hmm..ok..must try it.

True enuf, I didn't manage to get it at Bugis and Taka counters as it was sold out. I went home a little disappointed but still did not dampen my spirit to celebrate Denz' birthday the next day.

On Denz' birthday, I received this box of Durian mooncake from our very 1st guest aka the kids' godpa, my hb's best pal, Terence. Yippee.....Thanks ya!!

Couldn't try it yesterday as my tummy was filled up with the birthday foodies. I sampled it right away 1st thing in the morning on the Mooncake Day. Indeed nice as claimed. I could foresee myself finishing the whole box as there isn't many competitors for it cos hb dun like DURIAN, woo hoo :p

Denz' BD Celebration

This is the day my boy is celebrating his 1st birthday and I couldn't believe how time pass. He was like a baby yesterday and now I'm talking about him turning 1 year old.

Look at him now. He has changed much definitely in term of his looks, his intellect, his skills.....but one thing for sure that doesn't change is our love for him.

Wenz is the happiest on this celebration day cos she has grown up to understand and abreast what's happening around her.

The kids played while waiting for the guests to arrive. Wenz knew that there was some kind of important celebration event going on thus she was putting up her best performance and always giving in to didi.

Both my children has different character. Denz loves crowd, you could see this traits right from young. He is definitely a party animal.

This is the playpen he sleeps and naps everyday. He is really afraid of coming into the room nowadays cos this will mean resting and no playing for him. See, how smart he has turn to now? From a baby not aware of what's happening around him till a toddler capable of protesting in dismay.

Hubby's friends were the earliest among the rest and thanks to Terence aka the kids' Godpa for being the cameraman for this event.

The guests flocked in slowly as time draw near. The kids were playing while the adults tucking away with their food.

Our initial plan of making the event small turned out to be another great big celebration after all. This is to exercise fairness to both kids since Wenz had her 1st BD celebration too.

Really appreciate all guests who have turned up for the celebration and making it a joyous occasion for the limelight.

Soon it was cake cutting time. My eyes were set on this design right b4 the event when I passed by the cake shop on one fine day. I placed an order the moment I was planning for this celebration. :p

Denz was not aware of what's happening, perhaps he didn't even noe it was a day specially meant for him!! All he knew was lotsa fun and stuff like tat. :)

Wenz sang the birthday song loudly and helped to blow out the candle. She insisted on eating the piece with the only butterfly on it.

I am so glad that all guests enjoyed the food and cake. Really thankful to them for putting aside their time attending this important event and also their wonderful gifts for Denz.

Our Caterpillars

Went to collect the caterpillars I have ordered from BW & BY's mummy. I was advice to buy 2 sets in case the caterpillar didn't make it till the end then will still have one set to show the kid. Wenz was anxious and at the same time curious to see the caterpillars.

One set has a pair of creepy crawlers and I was given 2 different species. One species look kinda small and the other type fatter ones. I dun dare to touch. The real caterpillars look so different from the storybook - The very hungry caterpillar. :p

Well, luckily hubby wasn't afraid of it and he did all the cleaning, feeding and explaining to the gal. I was told that the crawlers will take about 2 weeks to turn into butterflies. Meanwhile shall wait for it to form to a cocoon 1st.

Wenz Lantern

Wenz had recently gone for a lantern festival gathering organised by our estate RC. This is an ad-hoc event as mummy did not buy the ticket before hand. As the weather was quite good, mummy brought both kiddos down and my ML went as well.

Wenz' teachers were seen helping out at the event giving out the goodie bag. As ticket was not bought early, the goody bag did not come with mooncake, hence mummy only bot one tix. We gotto choose our own lantern and the design Wenz or rather mummy got for this year is this Hello Kitty fairy. I had eagerly blown the lantern and took this photo. (By daddy) Mummy said this hello kitty lantern looks the nicest among all the designs.

Princess is happily playing with it and even Denz wanna lay his fingers on it. :p

New vacuum cleaner

Inspector coming

Didi checking the content

Didi going to the explore vacuum tube

Wow! Wonder what is this?

It had been tough this few days for all of us, mummy, Wenz, Denz and myself all were ill. Mummy and Wenz suffered the most cos of terrible stomach flu. The sleepless nights had turned all of us including my in-laws to Panda bears. Mummy isn't in the condition to blog so daddy is acting as the relief. Let me recap all of the moments or happenings since the last posting.

We had recently decommissioned our Philip vacuum cleaner after it R.I.P. We managed a get a Electrolux as a replacement. Denz seems to be the one most excited during the assembling. He was practically inspecting and touching every part of the vacuum cleaner. Vacuuming is now easier with much more powerful suction, longer 8m cable and brush on the vacuum rod that aids the removal of dust on sofa and carpet.

The Rainbow Fish

1st Sept is Teachers' Days and Wenz does not need to attend school as school holidays has started. I have arranged with Mummy Christin to bring the gals to watch a musical play titled The Rainbow Fish.

Everything was alright and we met up at plaza before heading to take bus there. Wenz vomited juz few minutes in the bus. Guess she has ate too much and worse thing is I dun have spare clothings. *sigh*

First thing when I reached the theatre was to clean this gal up. One helpful mummy offered to help and she brought one of the tees that were merchandise of the show into the toilet for me. Well, got no choice and I bot the tee. Top is settled but no bottom. Luckily I have 1 pc of pull-up with me and Wenz went without a bottom, juz the Pull-Up.

I find the show interesting and entertaining. Wenz could relate the story after the whole show as ended. Over is a nice and educating play, teaching us not to be proud and be willing to share. It bring out the message of telling us that inner beauty is more important than juz looking good.

We headed home straight after as couldn't possibly going anywhere without a bottom. :p

The Boy Who Touch the Moon

It was Wenz' 1st experience to watch a play at the Esplanade. We met up with Karen and Kylie 1st before entering the Recital Studio. My mum and Denz went as well but they waited outside for us.

This is a play put up by Tick, tack and Tock and total duration of show is only 40 minutes. Their target audiences are children from 2 to 4 years hence 40 minutes is quite ideal I think.

The 1st part of the show teaches the kids how to cast shadows in a lively way before touching on the story of how a boy touches the moon. They ended the play with another story, telling the kids to listen to advice and not to disobey.

We have bought the tickets for one more upcoming playtime in October. See ya then....

Nursery Open House

Wenz' school has a Nursery Open House from 10 am to 12 noon and I have registered her for the event for more exposure. We went for their outdoor activites like sand-play, fishing and balancing act before going into the classroom for story-telling and other indoor activities.
Missy was busy having fun with dough, puzzles and blocks before proceeding with the last activity which is her fave, CRAFT. The above pic definitely don't sound convincing that craft is her fave. She likes to mess around but not with her fingers dirty. Her fingers got all sticky glue over after pasting different shapes on her craft work and she was busy peeling off the sticky stuff on her fingers.

Look at her messy end product - A paper bag. We bid goodbye to the teachers before heading home for lunch and getting ready to meet Karen and Kylie in the afternoon for a 'show' at the Esplanade.

Trip of the Year 2008

It is once again our family trip overseas and this time round we headed for the beautiful island of Batam for a 3 days 2 nights stay.

The short travelling time of approximately an hour was very ideal as the kids would get too bored if travelling for too long.

We were welcomed by the friendly staffs from Harris Resort once we had reached the jetty, followed by many more pleasant experiences at the resort. Our rooms were all in a row with my room next to my parents'. There were even a door inside which connects the 2 rooms.

In order to avoid sleepless nights caused by didi due to unfamiliarity to the new surrounding, mummy decided to bring along Denz' playpen. No kidding man! Mattress was carried along too. @_@

We have tons of luggage plus the playpen, mattress, pram............as if migrating to a new country, trying to bring the whole house over.

The first day was more of feasting & exploring the resort. Well, the resort has very good concept of trying to be 'self-sufficient' with everything within including SPA for the ladies, activities for the kids, BBQ grill, go-kart etc but personally I think the adventure centre was not very well maintained or rather not fully utilized.

As the weather on the 1st day wasn't too good, thus the kids couldn't go for their dip. Ben was disappointed hence he woke up early in the morning the next day and urged my dad to bring him down. But everything gotto wait till after breakfast. Filling up the tummy is a much important task to the adults. :p

The kids could not contain their excitement for swimming so we created splashing and waves at the pool soon after breakfast. Wenz was all geared up and ready for some real action.

Machiam machiam only....

Happy Ben at the Pool

Didi in action

Denz got his fair chance of dipping as well else he will be grumbling and complaining. He already know the full meaning of fighting for his right. :p

The kids enjoyed themselves so much at the pool. It was so heartening to see all children playing happily and having so much fun. At least the purpose of having this holidays is to make them happy and have some time to relax.

Well, if u think didi didn't complain then you are wrong. He complained that his dip in the pool was a short one. He wanted the equal duration as his jiejie and Ben korkor cos he was taken out of the pool after a mere 10 minutes dip. Couldn't blame him for not smiling for the camera.

Wenz also came out of the pool reluctantly as we had booked for a free shuttle service to the town area for lunch and shopping at the mall in the afternoon. The kids need to get some rest before setting off.

There is nothing spectacular about the shopping there but still mummy managed to get herself a big bag of clothing at cheap price.

The food is cheap though. My parents dined at one of the posh-type of dim sum restaurant and total bill only around S$30 plus dapao for dinner. Irene and her parents dined at one of the local restaurant serving Indonesian dishes only cost her approx $10 for food and drinks. Ben and I went for A&W, miss the coney dog, root bear float, curly fries, waffles and so many....YUMMY. Not cheap though compared to the bill sizes of my parents and Irene but that doesn't matter as the food brought back lots of my memories. To my nephew, it might just be a fast food restaurant like Mac but it hold a lot more than this to me. We packed lotsa food for dinner back to the resort before taking the shuttle.

Every good thing has to come to an end and 3 days seems like a flash. We were heading home with a happy mind, relaxed body and revitalised soul. Looking forward to a longer trip next time.
